PBSerum Smooth+ is the enzyme preparation from Proteos Biotech (Spain) based on collagenase GH PB220, a recombinant enzyme distinct from hyaluronidase: it does not act on hyaluronic acid, but on collagen fibres. Composition and technology
Active substance: collagenase GH PB220, a recombinant enzyme developed by Proteos Biotech, a Spanish biotechnology laboratory specialising in advanced recombinant enzymes and certified to ISO 22716 (cosmetics) and ISO 13485 (medical devices).
Mechanism: collagenases selectively hydrolyse the peptide bonds of collagen fibres. In contrast to hyaluronidase, which depolymerises the hyaluronic acid of the extracellular matrix, collagenase acts on the fibrillar component of connective tissue. Hence its indication is not the correction of fillers, but the improvement of the appearance of the skin surface where collagen has become irregularly organised.

Regulatory status — important information
Proteos Biotech states expressly regarding the line to which this reference belongs: "the products in the pbserum Plus line are registered as cosmetic products for topical use. They are not intended for medical use or for injectable application."
- It is therefore a cosmetic for professional topical use: it is neither a medical device nor a medicinal product.
- It is not injectable and must not be administered intradermally or subcutaneously.
- It should not be confused with hospital-use collagenases authorised as medicinal products for specific clinical indications, which have a completely different regulatory framework and risk profile.

The important distinction is the enzyme target: collagenase and hyaluronidase are not interchangeable. Smooth+ does not degrade hyaluronic acid and is therefore not an alternative to a hyaluronidase preparation.

Storage and pack contents

- Store as indicated on the pack, protected from direct light and heat sources. Do not freeze.
- Once the vial has been opened, use in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
Contraindications and warnings
For topical use only. Do not inject. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
Do not apply in case of known hypersensitivity to collagenase or to any other component, or on skin with active infection, inflammation or lesion. As with any protein preparation for professional application, discontinue use if any skin reaction occurs.
