Regulatory status — essential information
This information is set out prominently because it determines any decision on use.
- Manufacturer's declaration: Lemon Bottle is labelled and marketed as a cosmetic product for external use. The manufacturer does not declare it as an injectable product.
- No medicinal product authorisation: the product has no marketing authorisation as a medicinal product in Spain or in the European Union.
- No CE marking as a medical device for an injectable lipolysis indication. No certification of this kind is documented for the product.
- Swissmedic warning (26 March 2024): the Swiss authority classified the lipolysis solution "Lemon Bottle" as a medicinal product because of its injectable route of administration and warned that it is not authorised for distribution in Switzerland. It further noted that its effect is not scientifically demonstrated and that the quality of the components is not verified.
- Swissmedic laboratory analysis: in seized samples, one contained only caffeine and another contained none of the components declared on the packaging; the content varied considerably between batches. There is therefore a documented risk of counterfeiting associated with this trade name.
- Distributor addendum (25 June 2024) reported by Swissmedic itself: the distributor SID Medicos stated that it could not verify the authenticity of the samples analysed and clarified that the original product is labelled exclusively for external cosmetic use.
- Warning from the General Pharmaceutical Council of the United Kingdom (10 April 2025): the British regulator described the product as "unlicensed and unregulated" and recalled that unlicensed medicinal products are not required to meet the safety and efficacy standards demanded of medicines.
Practical consequence: the injectable use of this product is not covered by any health authorisation in the European Union. Any application other than that declared by the manufacturer — external cosmetic use — takes place outside the regulatory framework and under the sole responsibility of the professional, with the implications this carries in terms of civil liability and insurance cover. In all cases, verify the traceability and authenticity of the supply.
Declared composition
- Riboflavin (vitamin B2).
- Lecithin.
- Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme obtained from pineapple.
The manufacturer does not publish quantitative concentrations for any of the three components, nor a complete list of excipients. For this reason this data sheet reproduces no composition figures.
The product does not contain sodium deoxycholate, the active ingredient of the injectable lipolysis products authorised as medical devices in Europe. This difference in composition is relevant: the efficacy and safety data for those products are not transferable to Lemon Bottle.
